The founder Vasily Hawrylechko started his work in the area of car sound recording in the in 2012. The first trucks recorded in 2012 were Volvo FH13 400 and DAF XF105.
The love for sound recording is rooted in the music that Vasily he learned since childhood. The first steps were made in childhood: recordings of synthesizer, the first bits, learning from one’s mistakes, using professional studio microphones, arrangement, multichannel recording, recording on mini discs... All this happened before the occurrence of Engine Voice Records. Recording trucks is amazing...

Vasyl’s direct speech:
"This is my passion, the love for trucks and their sounds… This is something that I have loved much for many years and it does not bore me, but fascinates more and more! This is my favourite occupation, like music. This is mine, I won't give it to anyone!” Even my first car in which I got behind the wheel first in my life at the age of three, and then being older learned to drive using Mercedes Benz SK 2531...The love for trucks has been grafted since childhood"
Vasyl's father is also a musician, and in the past he worked as a truck driver for some time, and he instilled in Vasyl a love for music and trucks from childhood. Since he drove his own truck, he took his son with him for truck flights.
Engine Voice Records started working in ETS2-ATS community in 2017 from recording Scania sound that was free. The topic of free sound recordings from Engine Voice Records will soon gain momentum again, there are already a lot of great recordings ready for release.

Vasyl’s direct speech:
"2017. For me it all started long ago, as if 10 years have passed...The approach to the recording was quite different from now, there was completely different equipment. And now the trunk of the minivan, and even the cabin are usually completely filled with the equipment, everything barely fits, many pieces of equipment are quite expensive and accordingly I can get records exactly as I want. Now my sounds are completely different, but I love very much the old record R420 HPI 2011' and in general all these old first sounds. This is an integral part of Engine Voice Records and now I am not ashamed of them, looking back at these old recordings"
Do you only record trucks?
No, of course, not, it all depends on corporate orders. I have recorded different buses, cars, motorcycles, special vehicles. I am always happy to have a new trial! While purchasing sound equipment, I never regret the money and buy the best that can be bought, I have a huge collection of expensive microphones of various types that can be used to record any sounds, from birds, explosions, shots and to loud sounds of sports cars and of course trucks. My equipment is focused not only on recording trucks.
I have many different suspension systems, windscreens, holders, suction cups and magic hands, for example for recording sports cars sounds. I obviously do not take all the equipment that I have to record truck sounds))
But the equipment, regardless of its quality, is only half the work, the other half is my experience and recording skills.
Is sound recording a tough job?
"It's easy for me, because I love it much and I'm used to tough jobs!
Of course, there were and there are failures, sometimes recording job appears to be a failure. In my opinion, recordings that failed are the ones that do not provide the sound that I already have in my mind. I always know what result should be in a specific situation without any options))
But mostly it brings me a lot of pleasure and joy.
Have you ever faced a force majeure?
It sometimes happens, of course, like with any people!
I faced the situation not once when microphones, microphone blimps, cables and power modules were fatally damaged, due to high temperature, hitting the microphones, breaking the blimps when turning the semi-trailer. And such things as the fur for microphone blimps, and windscreens are considered consumables.
Sometimes after recording sounds of exhaust or engine compartment after many hours on the road, they are dirty, or covered with soot and become unusable. I record sounds of both new trucks and many old ones, like euro2 and euro3, they are very smoky, hot and unpredictable. There are different ways.
How do you plan recordings, how does it happen?
I plan every detail of recording process, I follow the weather forecast, discuss the route, speed, and much more with the truck driver. Recording one truck is an average two days of field work. Sometimes I should repeat the recording. Often I have to work late at night or at dawn when it is not hot yet. It happens in different ways.
My equipment is ready for the long road trips.
Thank you very much for your support and kind words during my difficult period of 2020-2022. I really appreciate it.
And now it is time to continue the process, send updates and work with other sounds Life goes on! Sincerely, Chief sound engineer and founder Vasily Hawrylechko
